We have a number of new "Trainee" members who are currently being put through their paces with Nick Megson and Sylvia Bradley .
As well as learning to play an instrument they have also taken part in Theory lessons using a fun workbook. Many of the youngsters have already completed 2 theory books and are onto their third. All seem to enjoy how they are taught with the books, they have been awarded their certificates during recent band concerts.
During the concerts they have also come together to play a few pieces of music as a beginners band, many of the audience have been impressed with how they had improved from one concert to the next!

The learners again showed how well they are progressing. Alex and James played a piece called Working on the Railroad, Matthew & Sarah played Study in C, before being joined by Rosanna, Lucy & Archie to play ‘The Flintstones ’ arranged by Sylvia Bradley. There was also a piece called a ‘Music Extravaganza’ by Sarah & Hope, who have only been playing for 6 months.
Alex, James, Matthew, Sarah, Lucy, Rosanna & Archie, (above),also received certificates for successfully completing their latest Theory books.
Some Junior members came along to support the "Big Band" during their recent performance at Winkleigh Fair. These members have convinced us that the "DS" forms a massive part in preparing them and the band for the future!
